April 1, 2011 President Barack Obama, U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood visited a UPS shipping facility in Landover, Maryland to view various alternative fuel vehicles from UPS, AT&T, Pepsi-Frito Lay, and Verizon’s clean fleets and to announce National Clean Fleets Partnership. A liquefied natural gas (LNG) Kenworth T800 truck powered by Westport HD was showcased at the event to demonstrate UPS’ commitment to reduce the emissions of its truck fleet while taking a step toward U.S. energy security. February 22, 2011 UPS Announces LNG Truck Fleet Expansion Powered by Westport HD Systems UPS is committed to liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks powered by Westport HD Systems. The new heavy-duty trucks will be used in interstate operations for the Ontario, California to Las Vegas, Nevada route. December 21, 2010 Vedder Transport Ltd. of Abbotsford, BC to purchase 50 Peterbilt 386 liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks featuring Westport HD Systems. Vedder Transport Ltd. specializes in the transportation of Food Grade products in a bulk liquid or dry state and offers dedicated and irregular route, truck load and less than truck load freight services throughout Canada, and between Canada and the United States. October 28, 2010 Robert Transport of Boucherville, Quebec will purchase 180 Peterbilt liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks featuring Westport HD Systems. The new trucks, powered by Westport HD, will be used on line haul routes between Montréal and Québec City, and Montréal to Toronto. July 6, 2010 Westport Heavy-Duty Engine Receives 2010 U.S. EPA Certification Westport HD 2010 15L engine has been certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to 2010 emissions compliance. The GX engine is certified and compliant to U.S. EPA 2010 emission limits of 0.2 g/bhp-hr oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and 0.01 g/bhp-hr particulate matter (PM) without the use of emissions credits. Adding to the U.S. certification, Australia’s Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government has certified the Westport HD engine in compliance with the Australian Design Rules (ADR) 80/03, which takes effect for all heavy-duty truck models starting January 2011. April 12, 2010 Westport has reached high volume scale production capability in a deal with Delphi Automotive Systems, LLC, to supply Westport’s proprietary HD fuel injectors. Production is expected to begin in the second half of 2010. March 25, 2010 Westport, in collaboration with Grütter Consulting, has launched a the Westport Carbon Project, program to monetize the carbon emission reductions associated with Cummins Westport (CWI) and Westport HD natural gas engines. January 20, 2010 Westport Announces LNG Clean Truck Program Update and Management Transition Westport announces that as the largest procurement for LNG trucks at the Port of Los Angeles (LA) and Port of Long Beach (LB) (the Ports) edges to completion, Michael Gallagher, President & Chief Operating Officer of Westport, will transition to a new role as Senior Adviser. The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) in concert with the Ports have previously announced funding for natural gas trucks, which is expected to add up to another 500 LNG trucks to the Ports’ trucking fleet by April 30, 2010. Dr. Gallagher, who has focused his recent efforts around building up the fleet of natural gas trucks at the Ports, will continue to focus on senior international relationships in government and industry including industry boards and associations. August 26, 2009 US DOE Announces Recovery Act Funding for up to 2,800 Natural Gas Vehicles The US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Clean Cities program to reduce petroleum consumption in the transportation sector has awarded $300 million funding for 25 cost-share projects across the US that will deploy more than 9,000 alternative fuel and energy efficient vehicles and build 542 new refueling stations. December 10, 2008 PACCAR Australia and Westport to Produce Natural Gas Trucks Westport and PACCAR Australia announced today that the companies will develop and commercialise liquefied natural gas (LNG) Kenworth trucks for the Australian market. Australia’s Kenworth Trucks, a division of PACCAR, plan to begin factory-installed production in mid-2009 beginning with the T908, K108 and T408SAR truck chassis and roll out across additional models into the future. October 14, 2008 Peterbilt announced that the company will offer three new liquefied natural gas (LNG) configurations on its Models 387, 386 and 367 in 2009. The factory-installed LNG system is part of a joint agreement between Peterbilt and Westport to provide natural gas versions of select Peterbilt aerodynamic and vocational vehicles. October 6, 2008 El Toro Export, LLC of El Centro, California, a processor, marketer, and exporter of various agricultural commodities, has ordered 15 heavy-duty liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks, featuring Westport’s ISX G engine with High Pressure Direct Injection (HPDI) technology. August 21, 2008 CleanAir Logix of Oakland, California has ordered 9 Kenworth T800 heavy-duty liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks, featuring Westport’s High Pressure Direct Injection (HPDI) technology, for deployment at the Port of Oakland. June 5, 2008 HayDay Farms of Blythe, California has ordered 20 heavy duty liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks featuring Westport’s High Pressure Direct Injection (HPDI) technology. March 17, 2008 Southern Counties Express, Inc. has placed an initial order for 50 Kenworth LNG T800 Class 8 trucks, representing a value of approximately US$4 million for Westport’s LNG heavy-duty engines and fuel systems. February 13, 2008 Westport has been awarded US$2.25 million in funding from the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), the California Energy Commission (CEC) and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to support the development, demonstration, commercialization and certification of Westport’s heavy-duty LNG fuel system.
